Promises about prayer
Mat 7:7-11 "Ask,
and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be
opened to you. 8 "For
everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it
will be opened. 9 "Or
what man is there among you who, when his son asks for a loaf, will give him a
stone? 10 "Or
if he asks for a fish, he will not give him a snake, will he? 11 "If you then, being evil, know
how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is
in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him!
Mat 18:19,20 "Again I say to you,
that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be
done for them by My Father who is in heaven. 20 "For
where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their
midst."
Mat 21:22 "And all things you ask
in prayer, believing, you will receive."
Mk 11:24 "Therefore I say to you,
all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and
they will be granted you.
Luke 11:13 "If you then, being
evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your
heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?"
John 14:13,14 "Whatever you ask in My
name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If
you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it.
John 15:7 "If you abide in Me, and
My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.
John 15:16 "You did not choose Me
but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit, and that
your fruit would remain, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name He
may give to you.
John 16:23,24 "In that day you will
not question Me about anything. Truly, truly, I say to you, if you ask the
Father for anything in My name, He will give it to you. 24 "Until
now you have asked for nothing in My name; ask and you will receive, so that
your joy may be made full.
James 5:16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and
pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a
righteous man can accomplish much.
1 John 5:14,15 This is the confidence which we have before
Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15 And if we
know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests
which we have asked from Him.

Pray Bible verses
The Bible makes an excellent prayer guide. Many verses can be
turned into prayers. Here are some examples:
Col 3:1-4 Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ,
keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
2 Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth. 3 For
you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is
our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory. 5
Therefore consider the members of your earthly body as dead to immorality,
impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts to idolatry.
Father, I thank you that I have been raised up with Christ.
Direct my eyes to the things above, where Christ is, seated at your right hand,
instead of the things that are on earth. I thank you that my old self is
dead and my life is hidden with Christ in You. I thank you that Christ is
now my life. I thank you that the members of my earthly body are dead to
immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts to
idolatry; I renounce all such behavior and desires.
Eph 6:12-18 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood,
but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this
darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13
Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in
the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. 14 Stand firm
therefore, HAVING GIRDED YOUR LOINS WITH TRUTH, and HAVING PUT ON THE
BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, 15 and having shod YOUR FEET WITH THE PREPARATION
OF THE GOSPEL OF PEACE; 16 in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith
with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil
one. 17 And take THE HELMET OF SALVATION, and the sword of the Spirit, which is
the word of God. 18 With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the
Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and
petition for all the saints
Father, I choose to take up the full armor that you have
entrusted to me as Your child in Christ, so that I will be able to resist in the
evil day, standing firm against all evil--against the rulers, against the
powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces
of wickedness in the heavenly places. I gird my loins with truth, and put on the
breastplate of righteousness--Christ's righteousness. I shod my fee with the
preparation of the gospel of peace--Christ's peace. And I take up the shield of
faith, trusting Christ in me for faith to extinguish all the flaming arrows of
the evil one. And I take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit,
Your word. Please keep me in prayer and petition at all times in the Spirit,
alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints. Thank you.
Prov 3:5,6 Trust in the LORD with all your heart And do not
lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will
make your paths straight.
Father, I want You to direct my paths. I choose to trust you
with my heart, leaning not on my own understanding, acknowledging You in all
my ways. I trust Christ for the ability, faith, and will to trust. I believe
that you will direct my paths, because You are always faithful to Your word.
Prov 16:3,9 Commit your works to the LORD And your plans will
be established. 9 The mind of man plans his way, But the LORD directs his steps.
Father, I commit this matter to You, and thank You that You
will establish my plans. Thank you also for directing my steps. No matter what
I plan with my mind, I want You to establish my plans according to Your will,
and to direct my steps, even down to the millimeter and millisecond. Thank
you.

Pray what the Apostle Paul prayed
Below are actual prayers that the Apostle Paul prayed for the
Christians with whom he was corresponding, as well as prayers that he requested
of them. Paul's prayers make excellent prayers for yourself and others:
Eph 1:17-19 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the
Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the
knowledge of Him. 18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so
that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the
glory of His inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the surpassing greatness
of His power toward us who believe.
Pray Paul's prayers for yourself and others. Here's an example
with Eph 1:17-19:
Eph 1:17-19 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the
Father of glory, may give us a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the
knowledge of Him. 18 I pray that the eyes of our hearts may be enlightened, so
that we will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the
glory of His inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the surpassing
greatness of His power toward us who believe.
Eph 3:16-19 that He would grant you, according to the
riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the
inner man, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that
you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all
the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19 and to know
the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all
the fullness of God.
Col 1:9-12 that you may be filled with the knowledge of
His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, 10 so that you will walk in
a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in
every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; 11 strengthened with all
power, according to His glorious might, for the attaining of all steadfastness
and patience; joyously 12 giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to
share in the inheritance of the saints in Light.
Col 2:2,3 that their hearts may be encouraged, having
been knit together in love, and attaining to all the wealth that comes from the
full assurance of understanding, resulting in a true knowledge of God's mystery,
that is, Christ Himself, 3 in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and
knowledge.
Phil 1:9-11 that your love may abound still more and more in
real knowledge and all discernment, 10 so that you may approve the things that
are excellent, in order to be sincere and blameless until the day of Christ; 11
having been filled with the fruit of righteousness which comes through Jesus
Christ, to the glory and praise of God.
2 Th 1:11,12 that our God will count you worthy of your
calling, and fulfill every desire for goodness and the work of faith with power,
12 so that the name of our Lord Jesus will be glorified in you, and you in Him,
according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Col 4:3 that God will open up to us a door for the word,
so that we may speak forth the mystery of Christ, for which I have also been
imprisoned;
2 Th 3:1,2 that the word of the Lord will spread rapidly
and be glorified, just as it did also with you; 2 and that we will be rescued
from perverse and evil men; for not all have faith.

Pray what Jesus prayed
Chapter 17 of the Gospel of John records a prayer that Jesus
prayed to the Father right after the Last Supper with His disciples and just
before the Roman officials arrested Him. Much of Jesus' prayer was for the
disciples who were with Him at the time as well as for those, including you, if
applicable, who would come to believe in Him.
Agree with Jesus' prayer for you. Tell God that you want what
Jesus was asking for. Even though you may not fully understand what Jesus was
asking, you know that He would only have asked for what is best, so agree with
His prayer.
Here is Jesus' prayer in its entirety, followed by suggested
prayers for yourself and others:
John 17: 1 Jesus spoke these things; and lifting up His eyes
to heaven, He said, "Father, the hour has come;
glorify Your Son, that the Son may glorify You, 2 even
as You gave Him authority over all flesh, that to all whom You have given Him,
He may give eternal life. 3 "This is eternal
life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have
sent. 4 "I glorified You on the earth, having
accomplished the work which You have given Me to do. 5 "Now,
Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You
before the world was. 6 "I have manifested
Your name to the men whom You gave Me out of the world; they were Yours and You
gave them to Me, and they have kept Your word. 7 "Now
they have come to know that everything You have given Me is from You; 8 for
the words which You gave Me I have given to them; and they received them and
truly understood that I came forth from You, and they believed that You sent Me.
9 "I ask on their behalf; I do not ask on
behalf of the world, but of those whom You have given Me; for they are Yours; 10
and all things that are Mine are Yours, and Yours are
Mine; and I have been glorified in them. 11 "I
am no longer in the world; and yet they themselves are in the world, and I come
to You. Holy Father, keep them in Your name, the name which You have given Me,
that they may be one even as We are. 12 "While
I was with them, I was keeping them in Your name which You have given Me; and I
guarded them and not one of them perished but the son of perdition, so that the
Scripture would be fulfilled. 13 "But now I
come to You; and these things I speak in the world so that they may have My joy
made full in themselves. 14 "I have given them
Your word; and the world has hated them, because they are not of the world, even
as I am not of the world. 15 "I do not ask You
to take them out of the world, but to keep them from the evil one. 16 "They
are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. 17 "Sanctify
them in the truth; Your word is truth. 18 "As
You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. 19 "For
their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they themselves also may be sanctified in
truth. 20 "I do not ask on behalf of these
alone, but for those also who believe in Me through their word; 21 that
they may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also
may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me. 22 "The
glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just
as We are one; 23 I in them and You in Me, that
they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and
loved them, even as You have loved Me. 24 "Father,
I desire that they also, whom You have given Me, be with Me where I am, so that
they may see My glory which You have given Me, for You loved Me before the
foundation of the world. 25 "O righteous
Father, although the world has not known You, yet I have known You; and these
have known that You sent Me; 26 and
I have made Your name known to them, and will make it known, so that the love
with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them."
Pray Jesus' prayer for others as well as yourself:
John 17:11 "I
am no longer in the world; and yet they themselves are in the world, and I come
to You. Holy Father, keep them in Your name, the name which You have given Me,
that they may be one even as We are.
Father, please keep us in Your name, that we may be one even
as You are with the Son.
John 17:13 "But
now I come to You; and these things I speak in the world so that they may have
My joy made full in themselves.
Father, I ask that Jesus' joy be made full in us.
John 17:15 "I
do not ask You to take them out of the world, but to keep them from the evil
one.
Father, I do not ask You to take us out of the world, but to
keep us from the evil one.
John 17:17 "Sanctify
them in the truth; Your word is truth.
Father, sanctify us in Your word, the truth.
John 17:21 that they may all be one;
even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so
that the world may believe that You sent Me. 22 "The
glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just
as We are one; 23 I in them
and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know
that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me.
Father, I ask that we may be one; even as You, Father, were
in Jesus when He was on earth, and He in You, that we also may be in You and
the Lord Jesus, so that the world may believe that You sent the Son. We want
to receive the glory of the Spirit of the Life of Christ Jesus, that we may be
one, just as You are one with the Lord Jesus; Christ in us and You in Christ,
that we may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent
the Son, and loved us, even as You have loved Jesus.
